KNOT-TYING HAS LONG BEEN a part of the Scouting program
— for good reasons. It promotes discipline and focus, and it teaches
useful skills that can be used immediately. Just before we rest for the March holidays, existing scout members teach new members the six scout knots. This was done indoors during one of the CCA periods.
The activity was also a good opportunity for other members revise their knot skills and teach each other. At the end of class, all scouts are instructed to display knots neatly (making a knot card) with individual creativity using any materials they prefer.
